As we continue through this process, we love God in a relationship with Him and we love others through community. But it is important that we don't stop there. Jesus specifically told His churches to: "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature." That's a pretty huge task, but the best place to start is right where you are. So after we know Jesus and learn about what His plan has for us, we need to put our belief into action. The first way to do this is to help others find and follow direction in Jesus. This is an amazing cycle that Jesus set up for the people in His churches to get the message out about His forgiveness. Since we have been changed by Him, we want others to know they could also experience this change.
There are many ways that we can help others find and follow direction in Jesus, but it's best summed up by the term: serving the city. Sometimes the best thing we can do to help someone realize the love of Jesus is a good deed or a nice gesture out in our community. Other times our church reaches out to work in our city. Whether it's a conversation, handing out a NorthCity invite, taking cookies to a neighbor, mowing someone's lawn, or shoveling the snow off of a sidewalk, believers should be expressions of the hands and feet of Jesus.
At NorthCity, we desire to be a church FOR the city. We want people to see Jesus in our lives and hear Him in our words. Volunteering on Sundays at NorthCity is a great way to take that next step of helping others do the same. We also offer occasional opportunities through the year to get involved with serving our community in different ways.
We love God through a relationship with Him. We love others through community. And we help people do the same by serving our city. That's what we mean when we say, Helping others FIND & FOLLOW direction in Jesus.
This is God's process of making authentic disciples. Everything we do at NorthCity is designed to help you accomplish this process. If you are looking for a little direction, we believe that Jesus is the True North for every life. It begins and ends with Him.
